House hunting.
So today we went to see if we could qualify for a mortgage at a house. So we went to the bank to see if we could qualify. We did. Although, we didn’t realize we need a down payment. So moving into a new house may not be in the near future but, soon enough.
Then we went to look at a house (because we scheduled the tour before we knew we couldn’t buy it). The house was built in the early 1900’s. 1902 to be precise. It is more than a hundred years old.
We kind of have a three strike policy with looking at houses.
Strike 1. There was an iron claw bathtub with no shower head.
Strike 2. The doors to the bedrooms were more like closet doors.
Strike 3. The interior was covered in wooden paneling.
So we decided not to buy the house that we couldn’t buy in the first place. Although, it looks like no matter what house we buy it will be a fixer upper. Although, I’m a little nervous. I tried to fix our broken washing machine once and I forgot what screws went where so finally I gave up and then unscrewed everything I could find, so that I could take it to the dumpster by myself and discard it. I think I’ll just start watching episodes of This Old House.
